Ludlow is important in Tudor history as the place where Prince Arthur spent most of his short life, including the few months when he was married to Katharine of Aragon. Mary I also spent time there as de facto princess of Wales. It was the seat of the Council for Wales and the Marches, and you can read more about it in an article I wrote for Tudor Times, here.
